Bede the Venerable

Bede the Venerable
Birth 672
Death 735

Benedictine monk. He was a doctor of the Church and exegete of the Holy Scriptures. He’s considered to be ‘The Father of English history’, although he did fill it with religious miracles in an attempt to demonstrate mankind’s journey from the darkest depths of depravity into enlightened Christianity. He got so carried away that he named the heavenly host after saints and apostles and came up with names for the Wise Men.
