Origen’s teacher. A pagan with a classical Greek education who tried to bring together Greek philosophy and Christianity. He introduced the theological concepts of ‘civitas Dei’ and ‘civitas terrestris’, which were later developed by Aurelius Augustinus. He stood by the assertion that any Christian can ‘sense’ God1.
