Church Father (funny how there are Fathers all over the place, and not a Mother in sight!). The legend goes that he was born to Jewish parents who died when he was little, and he was adopted by a rabbi. But he quickly came to and converted to Christianity. He wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed and never had any kind of theological training, but he managed to make a name for himself by attacking Ancient Greek culture, vehemently denouncing heresy and holding Origen and Arius in contempt. He compiled an extensive catalogue of 80 ‘heresies’. To top it all off, he resurrected a pagan man’s dead son.
