French metaphysical philosopher and authority in the field of social and human sciences, who analysed Spinoza, Hume, Kant and Nietzsche in great depth. Together with Baudrillard, Derrida and Foucault, he started the poststructuralist movement, which claims it is impossible to be certain or objective about anything and rejects the ideas of ‘justice’ and ‘truth’. He criticised any kind of Marxism or psychoanalysis.
