Gregory of Nyssa

Gregory of Nyssa
Birth 335
Death 394

Church Father and philosopher. He was very close to the other Church Fathers, being Basil the Great’s younger brother and a close friend to Gregory the Theologian (it would seem cronyism got an early foothold in the Church). He rallied behind the doctrine of the Trinity and the infinitude of God. When it came to the question of salvation, he – like Origen – was a bit of a heretic; he thought that ultimately absolutely everyone would be saved, daemons and all.
