His analysis of halachic questions offered a wealth of information about Jews in Spain and South Africa, which became the basis for the famous set of rules for conduct, The Shulchan Aruch. He begrudgingly put up with secular sciences, although heavily disapproved of Maimonides’ preoccupation with Aristotle.
