Jean Baudrillard

Jean Baudrillard
Birth 1929
Death 2007

Superstar of 20th Century philosophy, who left his mark in philosophy, political science and sociology. He disputed Marxism in arguing that it isn’t an object’s innate functionality that makes it valuable, but rather the sign value that an object has in society. People are sucked into a simulation of reality, a kind of ‘hyperreality’, and actual society becomes mythological. Death is the only tangible reality that remains.
