John Kronstadt

John Kronstadt
Birth 1829
Death 1908

Religious writer, missionary and committed monarchist with an exceptionally close relationship to the Russian tsar. It’s for his ruthless criticism of the great writer Leo Tolstoy, though, that history remembers him. John accused Tolstoy of distorting the meaning of Christianity, being diabolically derisive of the Holy Scriptures and perverting social morality, and constantly prayed in his diaries that he would come to an excruciating end.
