Lucilio Vanini

Lucilio Vanini
Birth 1585
Death 1619

Philosopher and pantheist. He thought that the universe was governed by natural laws and that animals had evolved. This led him to the belief that mankind descended from apes rather than from Adam and Eve. He was very critical of scholasticism and was found guilty of atheism and put to death for all his efforts. Now that scholasticism has died down and science is in jeopardy, does that mean we need to execute people for their faith?
