Ancient Greek mathematician who came up with the world-famous theorem and his own kind of cosmology, and created a philosophical movement. His ideas about the many patterns to be seen in the world’s evolution had a significant influence on the development of the natural sciences. He was very interested in mystical teachings about the transmigration of the soul (metempsychosis).
