Greek historian. He’s famous for his multi-volume Geography, which describes the Mediterranean topography and the people who live around it. He attributed Greece’s advanced development to its position by the ocean and its citizens’ fascination with art and politics. We agree with this statement, but can’t help thinking that someone must have nudged modern-day Greece back from the sea. Why else would it be in debt to the whole of Europe?
